It hardly needs to be written that this a disappointing miscarriage of justice. I weep for our nation.
After spending five nights in jail, Paris Hilton was released early this morning and put under house arrest, The Los Angeles Sheriff's Department announced today...The decision was made after "extensive consultations with medical personnel"...According to the plans, she will finish the original sentence of 45 days in her own house with a tracker attached to an ankle. Her reduced jail term for violating probation on an alcohol-related driving charge was 23 days. (NYT)And let's remember...house arrest for Paris Hilton is like vacation for the rest of us.

According to TMZ.com (your one-stop source for celeb news and Britney ass sightings), Paris has been ordered back to jail. She was dragged out of court screaming mom! Ah, sweet justice. Man, I need to get a life.
So, as Jeneine commented, Paris Hilton is, thankfully, back in the slammer where she belongs. What a waste of an opportunity to accept the situation with grace and integrity. Here's one last coda to the story--after which her name shall never sully this blog again. From a story about her interview with Barbara Walters:
"PARIS Hilton says life behind bars has made her much more spiritual."
No, life behind bars is what she might have gotten if her drunken ass had killed someone that night. I think what we're talking about here is 5-10 days behind bars, so far.
"In a telephone interview from prison with the ABC Network's Barbara Walters, she said she had not eaten or slept in jail. 'I was severely depressed and felt as if I was in a cage,' she said."
You were in a cage.
"I was not myself. It was a horrible experience."
Good. Perhaps you will be motivated to spend some of your celebrity capital on something worthwhile now.
