Crocodile hunter rolls over in grave
Oh no! Apparently the freak death of Steve Irwin from a stingray stab to the heart has inspired some jackasses to go around attacking and mutilating stingrays. (The Guardian)
The persecution of these gentle--and freakin' cool--creatures is surely the exact opposite of what Irwin would have wanted. What a bummer.

What a sad epilogue to Irwin's tragic death.
At the risk of sounding like a bitter bitch on the rag, I say that Irwin had it coming. His approach towards 'conservation' by bullying wildlife was embarrassing and downright deplorable. My femi-nazi gal pals and I high-fived each other with glee when we heard the news of the ray attack--many had not felt this way since tackling the school yard bully in second grade.
"Nature bats last", y'all! Now get your white bread honkey asses out their habitats.
To the extent that controversy can swirl around the death of a Discovery Channel celebrity, controversy swirls around this one...but I think we can all agree to leave the stingrays out of it.
But, MW, that's the whole point--I mean why the stingrays are getting backlash from Irwin fanatics. He spawned these brawny blokes to assert their dominance and manly revenge. It's not what Irwin would have wanted, but it's the nature of the he-man image he promoted.
