And, just so's you know, insurgents (eek!) in this former Soviet republic have just ousted its president. Now various factions in the Kyrgyz Parliament are struggling for power as law and order collapse (NYT). Awesome--a power vacuum in yet another country which may or may not contain loose nukes.
Why should we care? Because one of the most significant and important projects of our parents' generation, the democratization and stabilization of the Soviet bloc, clearly is not finished. And few Americans seem to be paying attention.
